Technology: A Catalyst for Teaching and Learning in the Classroom
This article is making the statement that with the increasing use and necessity of technology, so dose the necessity to educate today’s students to properly use and incorporate technology into our lives. The truth of the mater is that in order to have technology we must have people that are masters of it to develop it. So, the simple fact is that we need to make sure that not only are they educated on the use but also on the development of it as well.

Using Technology to Improve Student Achievement
The biggest thing that I noticed about the article is the statement that students need to have consent access to computers and technology. That is all well and good however, I live in the land of reality were computers are a luxury not a necessity. Students really only have access in the library and in a few specialized classrooms. The next part is about having competent teachers, again if you don’t have the means to technology then what difference dose it make in the teachers know how to use it.

Does it Compute? The Relationship Between Educational Technology and Student Achievement in Mathematics
This article talks about the use of technology in the classroom and more specifically the use of computers to help rise the ability of students in math and other areas of science and technology. I think that the use of computers in the classroom is great if you have them ore can get them.

Locating, Using, and Integrating Internet-Based Mathematics Materials
This article is a lot like the assignment that we had to do regarding putting together a bunch of math and science links. I find it sad that teachers are having a hard time getting around the internet, I think that most teachers know what to look for, its more of a case that teachers simply don’t have the time to hunt down a lot of information in the web.

WEEK 6

Mapping a Path for the 3D Web
This will be very interesting to how this will develop as far as what people will need in order to use the internet or just what will be required to put thing up on it. Will there be new requirements for personal web pages, will we have to all upgrade our systems and the use of dial up will be lost forever.

Lead, Don't LectureThis article talks about using other methods of teaching other then the traditional method of lecturing. One teaching found that by using exploratory learning she could get one of her students that barely speak English could show understanding in his learning. Other teachers have found other methods including the internet and other forms of teaching materials that gets them out of the lecture mode.

Standards for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education

This reading gave me mostly a history of each of the standards and then a summery of the current main points of the national standards for each of the three areas: mathematics, science and technology.

This is a guide that was put together by New Jersey math organizations to help parents understand what there children will be learning and it also provides different learning and teaching strategies for parents to help the children. It also provides different activities for kids to do.

Week 2 Readings:
Constructivism as a Paradigm for Teaching and Learning

This article maintains the notion that smaller learning type communities and student centered learning is the best method for student instruction. Although I would agree with many of the methods and ideas of constructivism learning, I feel that it allows for too much student freedom and dose not provide a strong enough sense of accountability of the students. So I do feel that students should feel that what they are learning is meaningful, it should be teacher directed with a partnership in leading the learning environment.

Applying Technology to Restructuring and Learning

This article was to show that when used properly, technology has a hand in helping to educated all students. It points out seven main ideas of learning strategies, including: multiple model strategies, group learning, professional development, teacher confidence in technology use, multiple computers, support from school leaders and majority of schools participating.
